Advances come off the salary on their own
Note the advance once. It comes off the salary at month end.
The money you hand over in the middle of the month is the thing most often forgotten. It is also the thing most often argued about.
On paper
Somebody needs ₹1,200 on the twelfth. You write it on a slip and put it under the till. On the last day of the month, either you remember it or you do not.

Your worker sees it the same day
He sees the advance on his own phone when you write it down, not at month end when the money is short.
Take it off over more than one month
A big advance does not have to come off in one go. Take part of it now and the rest later.

- Write that down too. What is left to take off drops by that much.
- What if the advance is more than the month’s salary?
- What is left carries over to the next month. Nothing goes missing and nothing goes below zero.
- What if he leaves before it is paid back?
- It shows in the last payment when someone leaves, so you both see the same figure on the last day.

Is this lending?

Does the worker have to agree to it?
