An Excel sheet or DailyPlus — which one for staff attendance?
Side by side
| DailyPlus | An Excel or Google sheet | |
|---|---|---|
| What it costs | Free today | Free, or the cost of Office |
| Marking at the counter | Three taps per worker | Typing into cells on a phone |
| Who can keep it | Anyone who can use a phone | Someone who knows formulas |
| If a formula is changed | Not possible | The month can be wrong and look right |
| Worker can see his own days | Yes | No, unless you share the file |
| Works with no internet | Yes | Only an offline file |
| Advances | Taken off by themselves | Another column to maintain |
| Payslip | Made for you | Built by hand |
| Backup | Kept online with an account | Wherever the file was saved |
Plain cells, no adjectives. Where a cell says to check their listing, it is because their answer is theirs to state and a stale claim from us would be a false one.
When an excel or google sheet is the better choice
- You already have a sheet that works, on a computer, and somebody who maintains it.
- You need a shape we do not have — piece rates, hourly work, or an unusual pay rule.
- Your accountant wants the file in their own format and nothing else will do.
How we think about it differently
A spreadsheet expects you to be at a desk. Our reader is standing at a counter with one hand free. That single difference decided nearly every design choice in the app.
Moving your records across
- 1
Step 1
Add your workers and the wage from the sheet.
- 2
Step 2
Start marking in the app from the first of a month.
- 3
Step 3
Keep the old sheet for the old months. Do not retype it.
Questions people ask
Can I get my records out as a sheet?
Yes. You can take a copy of a month out and keep it yourself, any day.
Can I import my Excel file?
Not today. You add your workers once, which takes a few minutes, and start marking.
Start keeping your register on your phone
It is free, it works with no internet, and setting up your shop takes about three minutes.
